• He was involved in the FP7 Network of Excellence ACROPOLIS, focusing on Cognitive Wireless Networks, with the role of WorkPackage leader (WP10) (2010 - 2013)
• He was involved in the COST Action IC0902 - "Cognitive Radio and Networking for Cooperative Coexistence of Heterogeneous Wireless Networks", with the role of Working Group leader (WG5) and Special Interest Group co-leader (SIG3) (2009 - 2013)
• He was one of the two Italian representatives appointed by the Italian Ministry of Research and University in the Management Committee of the COST Action IC0905 - "Techno-economic regulatory framework for radio spectrum access for cognitive radio/software defined radio". He also had the role of Working Group 1 leader in the same Action (2010 - 2014)
• He coordinated for INFOCOM Department of University of Rome La Sapienza the successful proposal for the European Integrated Project "LocatIon bAsed servIceS for the enhancement of wOrking enviroNment (LIAISON)" within the 6th IST framework. He was in charge of research activities within the project, as well (2004 - 2008).
• He participated to the European Integrated Project "Pervasive Ultra-wideband Low Spectral energy Radio Systems (P.U.L.S.E.R.S.), Phase II" funded by the European Union in the th IST framework (2006-2008). Research activities focused on the performance evaluation of UWB-based Body Area Networks.
• He participated to the European Integrated Project "Pervasive Ultra-wideband Low Spectral energy Radio Systems (P.U.L.S.E.R.S.), Phase I" funded by the European Union in the 6th IST framework (2004-2006). Research activities focused on the design of a MAC protocol for low bit rate, location-based UWB networks.
