MACNET'13

COGNITIVE RADIO MEDIUM ACCESS CONTROL AND NETWORK SOLUTIONS

The workshop aims to gather researchers, engineers and practitioners both from academia and industry (universities, research centres, network operators, etc.), as well as end users which aim to inspire the analysis and development of new solutions and realizations of the cognitive radio concept, and to present advanced flexible transmission techniques, platforms, and CR applications. While the main focus of this workshop is on the Medium Access Control and Network Solutions, hot topics relevant to the workshop also include aspects related to other layers in the protocol stack that can impact or need to be taken into account during MAC and Network design.

In this view, the Workshop concentrates on issues presenting advances in various research areas related to cognitive networking technologies. These include:

  • Cognitive Medium Access Control protocols
  • Neighbour discovery schemes in CR
  • Network organization schemes in CR
  • Cognitive routing metrics and protocols in underlay cognitive networks
  • Joint dynamic channel allocation and routing in interweave cognitive networks
  • Resource allocation in cognitive networks
  • Solutions for multiple RAT management in cognitive networks
  • MAC protocols for CR
  • Cognitive relaying and cooperative techniques
  • Localization strategies for cognitive radios
  • Machine learning, self-organisation and pattern recognition tools for CR
  • Cross-layer flexibility and optimisation in CR
  • Hardware implementation issues, testbeds, and demonstrators
  • Decision making algorithms for CR-networks
  • Security aspects in CR networks
